Took a risk, got fired from my job, felt like a breath of fresh air

1 post in this topic

So I was a Shipper/Reciever at a french chocolate company. Came from a restaurant background, was excited for the job because the pay was decent. The owner worked there, but the company was basically ran by a short chinese lady who was in the position of handling almost everything like the accounting, customer calls, etc. She was also in charge of delegation. Within two weeks of getting hired, I was already having issues with this lady and I basically told her I didn’t like how I was being treated. From my perspective, her behavior seemed like she was suffering from narcissistic personality disorder. After talking to her, she continued her behavior. Yelling at me, verbal abuse, manipulation, etc. For 9 months, I dealed with it and said nothing. It was very psychologically unhealthy for me to be treated this way. I had enough and was going on a one week vacation, so I talked to the owner and told him about her, how I was feeling, and how I was unsure of working there. The owner doesn’t really know what goes on in the company, so after I talked to him, he talked to her while I was on vacation. When I got back from vacation (today), we had a conversation the first thing in the morning. The whole conversation, was them defending themselves, listing all the mistakes I made, and they didn’t care what I had to say. I mentioned, “well that doesn’t explain why I was treated this way from the beginning?” The owner replied like he didn’t hear what I said, and continued to defend her. I had a feeling I was getting fired so I stopped defending myself. I got fired and it felt like a relief.

My thoughts on it, narcissists will always do anything they can to defend themselves. Even when it comes to protecting their fragile ego, they will overeact in a burst of anger. The owner was basically this lady’s puppet. They turned all the wrong onto me, and didn’t listen to what I had to say.
