That is not exactly what he is saying

Ofc if you can make simple diet that that is good for you and does not involve complex creatures it is way to go, if you are interested in maintaining body in "perfect" condition that is, could have more then 1 type diet depending  on what is your goal and it is not like plants, vegetables can not have negative effect on your body , it is very complex matter if we go into effects of food.
