Anyone here had an enlightenment experience?

103 posts in this topic

I have had several, all profoundly transformative.

I do not call them enlightening though. I simply do not name them, as these are just concepts, terms that one can interpret, mystify, or question, plus, Ego is very smart and can slide through the back door very easily ;)

Last one, a few days ago, I've experienced PURE BLISS for a whole day. I tried to write down what I was feeling, but now realize, again, these words have been so trashed by mass "understanding" that they have no value at mind level. Anyway, here is what I wrote at the time:

Quote

Something snapped me open this morning...

nothing to DO
nothing to UNDERSTAND
nothing to SOLVE
nothing to CHANGE
no more HOWs
no more WHYs

Just BE !

Enjoy. Wonder. Play. Explore. Create. Bask. Immerse. Gratitude.

It is amazing how many times I've seen and heard these words...yet I didn't fully understand. But when I let go of the striving to "get there" and just surrendered... it dawned on me. It was always there but I had this veil.... this perpetual searching... thankfully, mercifully, it has stopped.

THE JOY...... !!!

:)

When I had mine, acceptance and joy in what was happening, was a cornerstone aspect of the experiences. I saw beauty and significance in everything. I wasn't trying to change or control the circumstances. I loved everything in existence unconditionally: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Everything was exactly as it should be, and I was able to see the total perfection of existence.

What I have experienced was that love was yet another concept... but if we had to use it, it was imploding, exploding, going out and coming back at me and to all and everything. Let's say like a boiling soup of love (with no heat) :)

That's very interesting. Would you say that love is a human concept attached to this force, itself? Or could it be a label for an emotion that springs up in relation to that force?

I'd say that human mind is incapable at this point in time and with the present language to express the exact feeling enlightenment has.

What I can say is that my own experience led me to be VERY careful with the words I am using. Words begin to leave me because they're so approximate!!

So better to leave what you are feeling right there. Don't go to Mind with them. Just let the feeling be there. It's exactly as you treat a newborn. You are there, but you don't feel the need to SAY things it would not understand. You just are present :)

That's great advice. Being too much in thinking/rational mind is probably what has kept me from experiencing oneness organically. I'm terrible with mental masturbation.

What helped me was to not believe a thing Mind is saying :D

Not one single thought. Dismiss! :D

"Dear Mr. Mind (made him masculine so I can detach easier), you are FIRED!"

I've been trying to detach from thought in the past couple months and it has really helped me progress by leaps and bounds and to get over what was before crippling self-doubt. I now begin to understand that I have minimal control over thoughts and that they are not "mine." I don't have to listen to them or believe them any more than I believe in anyone else's statements. I'm going to try your 'Mr. Mind' method because I think it will help me remember to apply this to my thoughts throughout the day. Thank you. :)

Also, inquire who is this "I" who is having the thoughts. Still yourself and ask.

Everything you perceive is not you, the same as a knife cannot cut itself. So what is left there? Keep asking.

Since the separate self is an illusion, seeing through that illusion gets rid of the effects of all traumas because there is no separate self to protect or to heal from trauma. When this happens a person is whole again, and fear goes away.

Yes...but not immediately. Just a heads-up: when you have a full-blown awakening, don't expect that it will solve all of your problems immediately. The fan of self may be unplugged, but its blades will still be turning for a long while afterwards as it loses momentum.

What do you think spurred it on?

I was meditating and digging and digging through some kind of " consciousness hole" dont know exactly how to explain it. So i dug and dug until finally i reached oneness, where everything was one and no more digging was necessary. I had my eyes closed during the moment , I opened them to see if the moment would last but when I did it faded so I got up after about 3 minutes.

I meditated quite often. But when I saw Leo his video on that you are not the body, I became depressed about that idea. Three days later I sat down in the morning and meditated. I heard a very high tone in my right ear. Then I felt I was leaving my body, I was never as scared while doing it. I accepted the moment and then I was in an enlightened state. Blissful, no thoughts and oneness. After it I was shocked. Still detached from outcome next few days. It lasted a few seconds, because I thought I could never return.

I will definitely continue the process of self-inquiry. :)

Thank you for the warning. I watched a video by Shinzen Young where he was talking about how after enlightenment things still have to be processed through, but that they are seen from the new perspective. He also said that he even sometimes visits a psychologist for certain issues.

Was it like a feeling or sensation of emptiness that you were focusing your awareness on? Or was it more like a thought (or absence of thought)?

The first one came from Leo his video. After seeing the enlightenment video and being shocked about it. I sat and meditate the next morning. I got there my first ten seconds long enlightenment experience. After that I became detached from my emotions and experiences (came from many devestating experiences in that time I could not register).

I followed Matt Kahn his teachings for two weeks, after 2 months I experience continiously a state of no-self and oneness. But this time it is not that my percieving point is way above my head, like it is only 10% of the movie. I speak very differently and my actions on a daily bases have completely shifted. I do not consider myself fully enlightened. But I show many signs: every moment of the day I feel fulfilled and happy. I feel lighter and lighter etc.

With the teaching he offered, your way to enlightenment is kind of automatic. With every encounter you automatically say 'I love you' to yourself. There is no effort, and you can't turn back.

Odd note: when you watch porn in this perspective. I saw how empty porn was, no connection. As a man I could feel how it was to be in the perspective of the girl.

I have seen a video from Matt Kahn before where he was talking with Teal Swan. I enjoyed his perspective a lot, and his idea of 'love whatever comes up' fits with what I experienced during my experiences. I'll have to check out more of his videos. I'm always looking for new perspectives on this to inform my own practice as well as to help spur ideas for my own videos. On the last note, do you mean that you felt the emptiness in porn from the girl on the screen's perspective or the female perspective in general?

Around February 2014, I had quite an experience after heavily delving into deeper meditation practices and the studying of Kundalini.  The awakening was hands down the most incredible thing I have ever experienced.  And I have experienced some stuff before, make no mistake.   It often feels ego driven, but I have spent the last two years attemping to replicate that experience or find something better.

Was in a Kundalini awakening with all the intense physiological symptoms? Or was it more of a subtle feeling of oneness and peace of mind?

Well at first, I had to psychologically fight back against some fear, but shortly after came a sort of tipping point where I began to experience incredibly strong rushes of intense, euphoria

I was looking into information on Kundalini awakening for a time a couple years ago. But the practice of it always ended up making me sick after a few days of practice with terrible headaches and nausea. Once, I even got a rash at the base of my spine. I sort of question whether these things happened coincidentally, or as a result of the practice. What is your take on this?
