Why Survival is a Dire Need?

Why survivial is the number one priority for the ego when everyone is going to face death inevitably? Does ego not want to admit that it will die, no matter how hard it wants to survive?

It's the same reason why we have legs, eyes, skin and so forth: Evolution.

Those organisms who prioritized survival would procreate, those who not would perish and cease to exist. That's why the ego is so hard to dissolve, it evolved in a way to be stable because those organisms who had a weak ego would not bother as hard to keep surviving.

That's mostly because the ego never really dies after enlightenment. It just transforms into love. It's trying to feed itself with junk food, but really, it needs something more fulfilling than that.

@Annoynymous If it wasn't you could not be here asking this question.

You have an important life purpose. Survival is important. But God's purpose won't be revealed to you until you let go of the purpose that you think you have. That means letting go of the need to survive.

That's allright. But don't you think it can be pathological which can sometimes rob oneself of happiness?

@Annoynymous Kind of missing the point, happiness, happenstance.

Cling to that fragile Ego til death, become a zen devil? Probably to do with why you have freewill. Follow the way(Tao or God/Spirit) or don't.
