Hi, I hope this goes here.

I want to know if reading fantasy books (lets say twilight) and combining it with self help material has counter personal development effects.

@actualized1 Think of those kind of books (fantasy) as entertainment, like tv or video games... Just like those things non-fiction can provide benefits like how video games improve coordination, non-fiction improves empathy 

But these effects are not the primary result of such medium, that would be entertainment 

So to answer your question I'd say that yes you can mix it with self development books, but only to the extent that would be just sufficient enough to not distract you from your bigger life purpose and personal development related goals, as with any other form of entertainment/distraction we all are involved in 

hope that helps, getting the balance between fun time and serious time is a tricky one, it depends largely on your commitment and goals etc

you mean your fictitious identity and the world around you isn't enough fantasy :)
