Rating Yourself: Know Where You Are Standing

5 posts in this topic

Hey  hey,

Lately I'm struggling with my life purpose and my future plans, because I don't know where I want to go with my 19 years. Through that process I constantly caught myself, to not being aware of my personal abilities. I've done a lot of "what-to-study?-tests" and some job interviews. But at the question what are my strengths and my weaknesses, I really stopped, because I didn't really know where I am good at and where I am bad at. Seems like I have aproblem to rate myself.

So my question is how can I rate myself, so that I know where I am standing right with a certain topic? Which training I could use to learn myself better?

Cheers
Tim

Are you an organized person?

Do you have good analytical problem solving skills?

Are you a "team" player.

There are your bullshit job interview questions. :)

Unless your trying to master a specific skill within a contextualized situation, rating yourself is over rated...

@Magnifico This is perfect! Because I found an excellent tool from a book that helps you find exactly that. It gave me a really good insight into what my preferences are, for example, I found out that I am a 'creative' and 'practical' type, so the job I do should involve those skills as it's what I enjoy the most, and I found this to be true

I was planning on making a thread to help people who would like to know the same thing and putting up the tool, however, the book is in the library so I have to make the thread when I have access to the book again, I will try doing it sometime soon

The structure of the test is very well designed, so I wanted to share it!

your question of rating yourself to know where you are standing, begs another question,  in relation to what are you rating yourself? What is the measuring stick that you are using for this evaluation?

Few people know their talents, qualities and skills at 19. The most important thing to do is to develop as broad as possible, the rest will follow by itself. @Magnifico Meanwhile try to follow your passion or just the stuff you are mostly interested in. Your spiritual work will definitely help on this. 9_9
