having a schedule

4 posts in this topic

I want to add in more structure to my day. I already have a solid morning routine but the rest of my day is all over the place. In the past when I have used a schedule I have always failed.

What's the best way to introduce a schedule into my life? Should it be like every hour of the day i have something on my schedule?

Check out how I do my daily accountability checklist in my Journal vol. 13.  Also, it really helps to have an accountability partner where you're both doing this together.  That's the ideal way to do it I've found.  You share your ongoing list with them and they share their ongoing list with you.  That really helps I've found.

@herghly Experiment and find what works for you! That's the ultimate teacher.

What works best for me is to make a huge document with everything I want to accomplish. Then I segment it into 3 categories: things I need to do this week (pressing and important), this month, and this year. I put the things I need to do this week into my calendar and schedule times to get them done. Inevitably, life gets in the way and I can't achieve everything I set out to do for the day/week, but I am able to do WAY more than if I didn't schedule it.

I also use the Pomodoro Technique as much as possible, and turn off my phone and computer and other distractions.

Hope this helps
