Ego Antidotes,managing Big Ego

4 posts in this topic

All of us have an ego. Some of us have bigger egos than others. My own battle to be more humble and less egoistic is daily. My own methods as of now is meditation, odd good deed and charity work here and there. However, I am convinced that there are other ways of reducing ego through perhaps ritual like affirmation. What are your strategies? Maybe some pitfalls that you encountered in managing ego like for example: must win an argument ect:)

What are your strategies?

I don't have a strategy, I chose to allow myself everything I want to. I chose to be a mean asshole when I am, I chose to be a loving kind person when I am and I chose to be apathetic from all of this when I'm facing the wall - sitting for hours in silence.

I have days in which you would call me a bad, manipulative - fuck yourself too - kind of person and I have days in which you would praise me. I chose to not interfere with this anymore.

I still have some neurosis left - probably a lot more than "some" - that makes exactly that what I just told you to a strategy to attain enlightenment and free myself. That is the last "problem". I went from seeking it badly - as you are - trying to do as much to grind away the layers of ego and really "get in there" to a kind of seeking by not seeking it anymore.

You gotta see that this is still a phase and I will eventually come to the point where I just give it up sincerely and in that moment it will happen. Now, this is nothing you could ever attain with meditation, with no spiritual teaching, no framework no nothing. This will just come when it's ready to come.

Before that, I just play this current role and enjoy the moments I see this attitude begin to fall off.

Cheers to you,

They want reality, so I give 'em a fatal dosage.

Don't engage in all the complaining and criticizing, that helps a lot.
