I dont get how reality is "too good to be true"

74 posts in this topic

I think I got this concept how bad things need to happen in order to maximize the best outcome for everybody. But I dont get how that leads to the conclusion that life is good.

I mean there are countless people in this world who just get fucked over by life from birth to death. Everything seems to go wrong, they get teased with their desires all their life and end up achieving none of them. So I get it that their suffering is somehow needed to come up with what is best for everyone in the long run.

But what does that help you if you are exactly that person and that is what God has decided is your purpose? God doesnt hate you or anything but he ran through every permutation and that is simply the best he could do, so your life ends up way below what the average person gets.

I think its even kind of insulting when spiritual teachers suggest you should be ecstatic about this.

@MM1988 well, let's consider the opposite reaction. Let's get angry at God for not making everything "perfect." Are you suggesting that we regress, point fingers, and harbor hatred towards life circumstances way outside our control? I'm not really sure what your point is.

@TheAvatarState I dont say you should be angry or anything about it, but how would a life like  that make you happy as a person without massive mental gymnastics?

@MM1988 Comparing yourself to others, creating a mental framework, and putting yourself down is the real mental gymnastics. It's all ego. Accepting your current position in life, no matter what it is, is a surrender of mental gymnastics. And that's really healthy.

There is only one way to know, and your mind is distracting itself from this by asking those kind of questions.

God is love

Whoever lives in love lives in God

And God in them

Life is not going to give you anything ever. When you think of bad things happening to you or the world  and how bad and imperfect is god..that is not actually the case. There was silence in the beggining and there is silence in the middle and there will be, silence in the future too.

One’s center is not one’s center, it is the center of the whole.

And the ego-center is one’s center.

That is the only difference, but that is a vast difference.-

Reality is waay to good to be true when the ego is detached momentarily from its perspective... it's way to beautiful.... it's absolute beauty... absolute love, there is no separation.

Spirituality always points to the now, that's what you can't really talk about it.

What is true now? Is your suffering real now? Because what you just wrote was a story

Hmm not quite, I think "those kind of questions" are fantastic! :)

@MM1988 What you don't realize yet is that from your paradigm, God's plan seems flawed.

What hasn't clicked yet is that it's not a question of conceptualizing your way to this beauty.

"What's God's reason for making certain people suffer... despite gurus saying it's all beautiful..."

No!

This is God's plan we're talking about. The architecture of the entire cosmos. You're not going to reconcile suffering and beauty by thinking about it.

It's only beautiful when you see the whole picture. But from certain angles, it's very ugly! The whole re-contextualizes the ugly into something entirely different. But you won't see that until you see the whole.

From your specific angle, you do not see the whole.
Right now you're looking at this thing we call reality from your specific angle, and you're asking your thinking mind, "how is this possibly beautiful?"

Well, it's not! It's ugly.

And as long as you stand where your stand, looking at reality the way you're looking at it, it'll stay ugly ;)

It's good to ask these questions though. Just make sure you follow through on them. Don't abandon them when the answers you get from other forum members don't satisfy you. You have to answer this question for yourself, alone, and without thoughts.

Life is not perfect for the ego. Quiet down for a minute and tap into... I exist... I exist!... I EXIST... how is this possible?!?!

Thats perfection.

Suffering is absolutely vital to life. There cannot be living creatures without suffering. Pain and suffering is what keeps a living creature alive long enough to breed.

Be careful thinking you can design reality better than God. You can't. So stay humble and learn to understand why reality must be structured exactly as it is and not according to your fantasies of how it should be.

God's design is good. Your design would be shit.

Nothing happens to anyone, it's all God's dream. Become conscious of what suffering and the sufferer is.

Reality is to good to be true exactly because it's all God! Everything that happens is His will and intention, and only God knows best.

@MM1988 Suffering is un deniable reality. Though we may never get the answer why creation is not perfect. That's the reason hinduism and buddism say get self realized and be free from this birth chain.

that’s a paradox - you‘d need to redefine design then. and redefine what’s good design.

If it's insulting, then you are misunderstanding it.
It's a position said from a point of view of a person that is so spiritually pure, that this is the universe that he would create.
There is no such thing as God, ultimately. Talking about God is a way to express yourself.
It's like poetry, or abstract art.

@Leo Gura That's something I was wondering when watching your last video

You said that God is infinitely powerful and beyond any limitation, so that would mean also that he can create without any problem a world/way where suffering is not vital to life at all, no ?

This point I didn't understand because it doesn't make sense to me that God would be absolutely unlimited but also that he has to respect some design constraint like there has to be some 'bad' stuff that would be good in the bigger picture because they are necessary

Now one other thing would be to say that 'bad' doesn't exist and it's just a ego perspective/creation, and that everything is good even suffering, murder rape, etc ...

That would make sense then, but then it's different that the concept that the 'bad' things are actually 'good' and necessary for the bigger picture

So I'm confused here, did I misunderstood something in the first point ('bad' things being 'good' in the bigger picture) ? Or actually the answer is just the second point (nothing being bad) and the first point is irrelevant ?

@tsuki They don't say there is no such thing as God but say the Totallity the total universe is God.It is not a poetry or art.

One master said try seeing every thing as good.It may be bad but you should see that as good.I didn't ask how to see bad as good.so kept quiet.

What you are are overlooking is that creation IS constraint, IS limitation. God has not constraints, he can create whatever he wants, but once he's created it, that thing must be a certain way. God cannot create a chicken and then have it bark like a dog. To be a chicken means: can't bark like a dog. The vocal cords of a chicken cannot bark. This is not a limit on God's power. He made it that way! He doesn't want chickens to bark. They got other stuff to do.

The design constraints are not placed upon God. God places the design constraints in the process of creation so that creation works harmonious with itself. If God created animals without suffering, those animals would not live long enough to breed. So he could do that, just like you could punch yourself in the nuts, but he's not stupid enough to do it.

Stop assuming that suffering must be eliminated from the design, as if it's a parasite. Suffering is not some extraneous thing, it's there by design FOR YOUR GOOD! By seeking to eradicate suffering from the world you are fucking with God's design and unwittingly turning his heaven into hell.

Suffering isn't a bug, it's a feature.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.
