Dark Night of The Soul

6 posts in this topic

Strangest phase. When everything just turns gray, all seems hopeless, you look like someone who never worked on himself at all, which is a nice blow to the ego.  The feeling is like grief, apathy, depression, something is dying (i am sure it is), nothing, absolutely NOTHING is effective in distracting myself a little, i am forced to feel my feelings, i try to stay mindful, present, to let go but it seems that there is always more to let go of. The boredom is a killer, not even spiritual talks or self-development material (which i used to love, as a self-help junkie) works anymore, i don't have the patience for anything and doing nothing is too painful. I am in that phase that it looks like i already know every fucking concept that i need, more information isn't going to help, which is a little disturbing. I see myself hiding from life, taking no action at all while "problems"  suddenly manifest all over the place. Sickness arises, the body is weak, painful, lazy, constant discomfort, for sure is a huge ego backlash.

In truth, i kind of know what i should do, as it is not my first time, but i always love to hear your thoughts and experience about hard times in The Path.

@Recursoinominado This is the dark night of the mind, not the dark night of the soul which is something else entirely. The solution to your problem is to constantly remind yourself that the mind is intrinsically incapable of figuring out enlightenment. Do it with such intensity that your internal dialogue shuts up. Then merge with your real nature.

Doesn't reeally matter how its named, just words, but i see what you are saying, i am going to keep it in mind (i see the irony lol). For some time now i began an inner movement of letting go of trying to rationalize my way into the spiritual path, it has its benefits but is also limited, i am trying to let the body do its thing, my meditation is basically being present, relaxing, focusing in some feeling and letting it go.

@Recursoinominado You are not capable of doing anything. That is the illusion. Things happen by themselves. Your mind just makes conclusions about stuff and if those conclusions are happy - then you think you are happy. If they are sad, then you say I am sad. Don't think. Be.

Also, it matters tremendously how its named. Dark night of the soul is a very real phenomenon, and of actual significance on universal scales.

@Recursoinominado Dark night of the souls is literally (with your own very eyes) seeing God in everything expect yourself and that makes you "unholy" for a while.
