Self inquiry eyes open or closed?

I love keeping my eyes open because I dont fall sleep and get into thought chains. I put a black dot in medium distance and completely focus on the dot and not move at all. (The body and the eyes)

Can I put awareness on "emptiness" with eyes open or its better off with closed eyes?

In my experience it works better eyes open.

Just looking/feeling the emptiness/beingness of everything including the space itself.
