Euthanasia

10 posts in this topic

Been watching Leo's videos for years, and the same question keeps popping up in my head.

What is the point of all this enlightenment seeking and spirituality, when ultimate you discover that everything is just nothing.  We spend our lives searching and seeking, with an underlying motivation to find peace and happiness.  Why nut just Euthanise oneself and be at peace??

@Mikael89 True. Also this nothing or nothingness is fully aware and conscious. Most people misunderstand what nothing really is and means.

You can destroy your life, hurt your family, friends, throw away your life.

But you don't need to, nor is there certainty in that to stop the negative momentum of your mind.

But yes, the point is to give up neurotic searching/doing, and learn how to rest in God, which is beyond life and death.

Because life is amazingly beautiful and fun when you learn to focus on the beautiful fun parts and see the rest for contrast that allows the beauty and fun to exist. There's no light without dark. Life is a gift but if you focus on the wrong things, cling to things and expect the wrong things to fulfill you, it's not so fun. You can still enjoy everything life has to offer, you just know that you bring the fulfillment to the things, they don't bring it to you.

Because you'd simply end up right back where you starting. Experiencing this very life and everything.

But there is something

There is both something and nothing. And neither and each of those.

The Dao transcends both of these labels.

@9thlife Because you're ignorant.
You believe the stories you tell yourself about death - that it will bring you peace.
The truth is that you don't know. What if even greater horrors await you there?

With correct practice you can die while you live and see for yourself.

I don't care what The Dao says. The Dao is wrong, or your interpretation of it is wrong, or both. Something from absolutely nothing is impossible.

Something from absolutely nothing leads to the same impossible things as materialism:

Something (the universe) just happens to pop up only one time from absolutely nothing, and then it goes back to eternal absolutely nothing, and it never pops up again.

Or maybe you mean that something pops up more than one time from absolutely nothing? That's possibly even more insane than materialism, because at least materialists understand that something can't come from absolutely nothing, and their belief in eternal death comes from that understanding.

(Although they believe that something from absolutely nothing was possible only one time, it wont be possible in the future again, that's their beloved belief in eternal death.)

The Dao does not mean a person. It is in reference to consciousness. That which cannot be named.

To be unbounded is to not be bounded by what you declare as "impossible" The problem here is you are trying to limit The Dao by your own rationalization. The second you try to assign a label or describe it you stray away from what it truly is.

Theory will only help you so much but in the end you can't ever fully comprehend it.

Actually, you misunderstand what nothing means - it means utter lack of experience, and if it's fully aware and conscious then there is an experience so therefore something

Life is great when you take care of yourself mentally and physically.  If you screw up one or both of these though, you will suffer unless and until you wise up.
