No matter how far you've come, you are always back to square one.

I realized this recently. You become a beginner every day, but you have knowledges you have accumulated so far. This realization helps me maintain a beginner's mind.

Overworking yourself just to advance a pet project as fast as possible is a waste of time because you will be back to square one after finishing the pet project.

Did you just become a bilionaire? Good. You are a beginner again. You have a new set of problems. Did you just finish creating a new piece of infrastructure? It helps, but you are back to ground zero again.

No matter how much infrastructure I have, where I am is always ground zero.

Not true. Once you really transcend there is no coming back, there is always a growth. There is something beyond logic happening after true awakening.

What kind of growth are you talking about? It better be good. What do you mean by true awakening? How do I know I had true awakening?

But you get wiser too don't you?  How do you make sense of that within the context of what you're saying?

Having a million dollars is not the same as having zero dollars. Rich people say that money doesn't buy happiness because they don't want to get attacked by jealous people.

Do you think temporary dopamine rushes is the source of happiness?

Physical changes, intellectual changes, growth every single day without effort. The brain opens up to more than 10% of capacity. And true awakening is being lost completely, and one just goes with the Breath until from being lost everything becomes real and impactful at any level. In my case is being able to see reality from anyone's perspective. After a while maybe society as it is, is not appealing anymore. Because once you are able to see all the BS of the subconscious of people, is just not fun to praise humbleness, at least for me.

Let's be real. Who has not transcended language and does not see the hidden meaning in the words, he/she are just in a searching stage lying to themselves that if they read 1000 books they know how non-duality works, the case is that is not awakening no matter how much one reads or understands. True awakening is without masters, if one really absorbs the experience of Infinity is a 180 degree shift at any level. I don't know i speak from my experience, because what i see here in the forum are childish nonsense usually, praising concepts and logic. So yeah, i'm having a blast of fun also to be sincere :) to read all the "this is what non-duality is" or "this is what true God is", just hilarious.

The greatest joy is doing a fun activity for a long period of time. Without breaks or distractions.

Then you get bored of it and move onto something else. Thats what materialistic possessions grant. Ever fleeting joy that you constantly have to chase.

And when you do that so much you will find it no longer gives you joy at all.

Sustained happiness will not be found externally.

Being is fulfillment enough.  That's what Nirvana means and points to.

Nothing wrong with that. That's what makes life beautiful. You get to taste many different things.

@CreamCat

True.

That's how it works.

We always want happiness, but we fail to see that it's just right now.

We think happiness is at the top of the ladder, but really the top is just a portal to the starting point.

The point of the ride is the ride.

There is no lack of fulfillment in being.  It's the Ego-Mind that wants to chase fulfillment in something other than being.

Sure, live how you want. I just figured most people would rather be content regardless if they have those ever fleeting joys. Non dependence to be happy.

You also get physically stronger and more intelligent. But, at the end, hedonic adaptation happens. It feels as if nothing really changed.
