For someone who already does kriya yoga for 60 minutes a day is it worth starting a concentration practice?

I'm considering doing 3-5 minutes daily and if i do not sure if i should do it before or after kriya

@herghly what puts me off is the fact that there are weird preparatory exercises requiring you to close one nostril with your hand while your hand is in a particular shape...like how is that gonna help me get enlightened? I dunno...might make a post asking if the preparation exercises are important for kryia.

Just get over it and do it anyways!

Doesn't matter worst case you look a bit dumb for no reason doing a weird exercice and that's it it's such a small detail

it has nothing to do with the particular shape. it's all about your discipline to do it methodically. rituals are tools to avoid sloppiness.

when we practice zazen in group, for example, there is a methodical way to walk, to bow, to spin, to sit and to breathe. it evokes a certain degree of seriousness and concentration that's necessary for this kind of work. also, if everyone just did it their own way, the environment would become too chaotic and distractive.

@Charlotte thanks I'm already pretty active in that thread but I'll check again if anyone has mentioned concentration practice

... I guess I'll do 3-5 minutes for a month to see

@herghly your welcome dude.

I did the 'staring at the thumb' for 3/5 minutes a day and found it greatly helped. Plus it was great for observation of thought.
