Is the nature always alive?

Has anyone experience liveliness and fulfiling in a dull, wintery nature? 

In my first strong psychedelic experience I encountered nature and I was amazed of its aliveness and beauty, but it was spring time(May) when all the trees are green and flourish. 

I'm asking this because:(1) I didn't get the same experience in a cold month of April when the nature was still asleep and (2) I keep seeing the expression "The nature is always alive and always beautiful". It's just me the one who can't see beauty in a "Death nature"?

It is true that there is less activity in the winter season. Can you find beauty in the stillness of it?
