How to embrace the scientific method as a spiritual person

How do I study science (neuroscience/ biology/ psychophysics) when I have resistance for rote-memorisation and dry information (especially in such reductionist paradigm??) I know Leo has done well in the sciences at college too, how do I apply that to studies of more scientific subjects at university?
