What comes after nothing?

10 posts in this topic

Everything.

There can be no thing after nothing.

There is nothing after everything; everything after nothing.

@ivankiss Is that based on your awareness or your mind?

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

@ivankiss Perhaps this is just mental masturbation? "Nothing" and "everything" are concepts. "After" is a concept that implies subject- object duality of time. None of these things actually exist. Maybe the most accurately you could point to this Truth with language would be to say, "There is and always was eternal, infinite void, which is simultaneously everything and nothing." Even that is implying certain aspects and saying too much

All of language is an illusion. All words are merely pointers. Discard the pointers.

@ivankiss The mind cannot be trusted. Anything that comes out of the mind is automatically false. Keep that in mind!

@How to be wise Nothing comes out of the mind, so to speak. It is all awareness.

The mind merely interprets in such way, that it is able to understand, communicate, relate.

I do not blame my mind for it's shallow understanding of infinity. It is learning; evolving. I have a rather lovely relationship with it.

Although it can get stubborn at times :D

@TheAvatarState The point I wanted to make was that there cannot be only nothing. Nor can there be only everything.

Yes, I used my point of view while describing this; which is illusory.

Illusion is also real ;)

That's the point. Yet there is no point.

@ivankiss You’re right. The mind shouldn’t be seen as an enemy.

Ultimately you'll have to discard them, just like any model or system, but that doesn't mean it isn't useful in order to get closer. Never confuse the map for the territory, but the map IS a helpful guide. Don't discard it until you know the territory like the back of your hand, and keep it around for newbies. :)

@ivankiss YES!!

...I mean no... xDxDxD
