Turn life into meditation.

9 posts in this topic

Meditation is a metaphor for being distracted and bringing your attention back to something you want to focus on.

Work can become meditation if you resist temptation to surf the web randomly.

Single-tasking can also become meditation when you try to focus on eating your lunch and resist temptation to fiddle with your smartphone.

Just a few days ago I started to wear a silicone wristbrand and every single time I notice it, I focus on the present moment whatever I'm doing. No exceptions.

(thanks Leo for the tip :D)

To remind me to the present moment. I tend to forget about it when I'm busy with work or any other activity.

Is wearing the wristband enough to remind you to be in the present moment?

Yup. My goal is to learn how to be in the present like all the time without wearing anything. For now, it's a good crutch for me, I think.

I thought you were going to zap your wrist with your rubber wristband whenever you catch yourself distracted.

Another insight came to me.

Quote

Be slow and focus on work as if you were on a solo retreat.

Quote

Live your life as if you were on a solo retreat. Turn your life into a solo retreat.

You can do a solo retreat by dividing your day into working, maintaining yourself, and doing nothing.
