Not expressing negative emotion

A core practice in the Fourth Way work beyond Inquiry is not expressing negative emotion. I used to be a real chronic complainer but it has taken years to get away from the tendency to automatically bitch about something.

I heard Arnold Keyserling once say that if a person could go for two years without expressing negative emotion, they would be free from it for life. Implying that a person can get to a point where they actually do not take ANYTHING in a negative way. It's easy when you're in a comfortable safe environment but it's very different when we experience an injustice or violence or threat of violence. I have no doubt it's possible to improve in this over time but reaching a point where one is absolutely solid in this virtue of not taking anything at all in a negative way seems like a tall order. I would say basically approximating Sainthood. Any thoughts on this?

It slowly subside, you start to notice way less things as negative, also negativity becomes like smaller and shorter spark over time, I am not really at the point that you do not take anything as negative, but there are way less things that make me manifest negative emotions and they are  short duration burst of these emotions, sometimes it is even funny, you know you are negative about something and this feeling is still there and you observe it making changes in your actions, but you find it funny. :D 

By smaller I mean , it comes in lower levels, it is not like you become super negative, negativity is there , but it is in small volumes.

I know it sounded arrogant. But I was sincere. Life goes on in a mechanical way and devolves. Negativity is born out of mechanicality. Negativity doesn't become less over time by itself. It becomes more. It takes more conscious awareness to overcome negativity and that takes a lot of work. Meditation and Inquiry,,,

Ohh, I did not say that it goes away without putting in work, I was just telling you what happens after you put time in practice.  

Actually after while you could say that it just happens, you are not even focusing on it as your goal , just your actions lead to less and less negativity, it becomes like your second nature to lower all incoming negativity.
