Can meditation completely solve serious addiction issues?

8 posts in this topic

In nutshell, i have serious addiction e.g compulsive porn and internet use, also chronic procrastination (Probably about 9 years so far). For years, I have tried so many things but i often just fall back to the old habits. I already know very the consequences of these terrible habits, but it's very difficult for me to stop it.

There is even one video from Leo Gura that basically say 'All other attempt to fix addiction is not really useful, because those fixes will be just sort of distraction from the addiction, but the addiction itself will show up in another time, in another form. The only way to fix this issue is to face 'the emptiness itself' (or basically he suggest to meditate)'

So basically here are my questions

1. From your experience, do practicing TMI help to fix addiction/compulsive behavior?

2. In your opinion, do you agree with what Leo Gura say that 'facing the emptiness (or meditation) is the only real solution of addiction'

I have tried to do the practice that Leo suggest in the video (basically labeling, do-nothing, strong determination), though it's not routine enough so probably i have not seen enough progress from it. That's why i ask you guys whether it's really worth it to take this meditation path seriously.

Thanks for your help, any kind of advice is appreciated.

@thematrixyz no. meditation can train your ability to ditch addictions. meditation itself will not do the work.

There're many ways to stop the your harmone imbalance. Simple ways like lots of physical activity can do the trick and there're many other ways of doing this.

One way is to do shambhavi kriya. When I did it I stopped masturbating for 4months without even trying. Without even counting days or smth. Simply somehow that kriya is designed to stop the hormonal imbalances or smth to stop this hornyess. Honestly I don't know how it works but I know it does. At that time I thought I will stop masturbating for my entire life because there was no need, no hornyness in me at all. But When I stopped doing shambhavi within 3-4days I masturbated again. I could clearly feel this freedom for no fap was 100% because of shambhavi kriya that I was doing.

So this would be my solution to you if you already tried everything and nothing worked. This will definitely work.

And this procractistination and frequent masturbating is very directly connected. One tao master said if you masturbate 5times in a row. Like one after the other. You could die. Or at the very least go to the hospital like an empty vegetable that has no energy to move.

So it's really important energy source for men. If you have a way to keep it inside and transform this semen. It could unleash tremendous spiritual possibilities.

Shambhavi can give this to you.

You need to let ego dies. Meditation won't do it for you. Just letting go will.

@thematrixyz

What if you just sat and relaxed, and instead of holding attention on what you don’t want, you put attention on what you really do want, and played a little game of looking at how deeply you want it? Might lead to great things.

Will being more aware of your addictive behavior be better than being less aware?

Dont look at me! Look inside!

What helps the most imo is a support network.
