Is Just Wanting A Mindfuck An Unhealthy Motivation To Do This Work?

27 posts in this topic

I like to clarify my intentions in the beginning phases of my meditation practice each day. Most of the time, my intention is just to be mindful and to know my reality exactly as it is in this moment. If I'm being honest though, I'd really like to experience this nothingness that everyone on this forum raves about. The no-mind, the dissolution of the ego, the radical shift in perspective. All that. Is that a negative thing? Will grasping for the mind fuck stifle my practice and actually keep me from getting mind fucked?

The raving comes from those just getting a taste of it.

Those who experience it continually don't rave. Unless they decide to put on that mask and consciously play the role.

Im somewhere near the middle. That why I'm a Zigzag Idiot.

Grasping prolongs the search, usually.

Some would say though that if your whole life became just one thing, even grasping, then you might wake up to being quicker than 'normal' inquiry.

Usually the formula is roughly that you have to awaken, then die, then be born again.

Die to separate self,,,, born again in Realization of being///// mind not required

Leo's videos are good stuff and there is plenty to chose from. That's where the good explanations are,,,,

That’s what it’s all about. Curiosity, willingness and open-mindedness is a powerful combination. And it’s lethal to the ego.

Some of my deepest insights have come from mind fucks. You discover things like the fine line between genuis and insanity. Yet mind fucks can be really really hard to integrate. And they can be intense. I need long breaks after them.

Reminds me of a funny book I read a few years ago

Nothing wrong with curiosity being a motivation for practice.  Buuuuuuuttttttt, sometimes you can be all like man this is gonna be good, I can't wait, god hit me with no mind, show me no ego, then SLAP, you get hit with something fierce, shit your pants and run away as fast as you can, or worse yet get stuck in something you wish you'd never opened.  That said, if you keep a open mind heart and aren't to pompous about things, even the scariest stuff will hopefully yield useful lessons eventually.  This is from personal experience, so trust me when I say tread lightly and respectfully, and don't be a tough guy trying to do as much as you can.

Ohh yes, had this situation so many times where you stumble on things that makes you more depressed then relieved, good times! :D

And I am sure I still have allot of lessons to learn in this area.

@ULFBERHT I think you're good man. Keep looking for it. You will most likely never find it unless you are searching for it

@Zigzag Idiot I like your style.

@VictorB02 Thank you for your encouragement.

@Joseph Maynor isn't that what this work is all about? If you're seeking radical truth, the ultimate truth, there must be some part of you that recognizes that once you get a taste of it, it's going be far stranger and more profound than you ever could have imagined.

But that's probably all thought-story. I have no idea. I haven't verified any of this in my direct experience. I guess what I'm saying is, I'm prepared for the mind fuck, if it comes. I'm also prepared for the more mundane, it it comes. It's all good.

Be prepared to the eventuality that you could die.

Research «enlightenment on the level of the gut».

Even if you think you're prepared, you won't be, but at least you will know what could happen.

No, you are not. The only preparation is to fully surrender and get owned by something you cannot conceive of.

Go in humble and surrender. If you try to maintain any control through it, it can be mental torture. Psychedelic insanity zones can be extremely intense. You have no idea what you would be entering. Once started, you cannot leave or make it stop. Time can lose all meaning, so one minute is no different than a year. Be careful what you ask for.
