I bumped into a similar video posted a while back on this forum. Somebody mentioned that this behavior is explained by Collective Consciousness.

I don't think there is any communication going between each bird, they change direction too fast and too synchronous for that. This phenomenon doesn't make sense If you consider that each bird is a separate individual making its own choices of going left or right. But if you imagine that their decisions/instincts come from the same source, like maybe consciousness, this behavior is perfectly explained. Just as one bird has the instinct of suddenly changing direction, 100 birds simultaneously can have the same instinct at that moment.
