Apart from that. Main reason for mantras is really supposed to be a head-shake... The word itself is often meaningless... It's a sound afterall... If reciting a mantra in your head after a while one might become aware that he/she is simply aware of the chanting which is happening on it's own... 

 

But really, it all depends.
