[Insight] Desire cannot be created

3 posts in this topic

Sometimes you have no desires and you think this is a bad thing. So you try to force yourself to want things that you don't really want. This causes confusion and suffering. It's okay to want nothing. It simply means that you want to rest. By rest I mean doing absolutely nothing. If you rest long enough desires will arise. And then it's your job to act on those desires without judging them as ''bad''. Authentic desires always have a feeling of excitement attached to them. That's how you recognize which desires are true and which ones are not.

The way I see it there are:

1) The things you have to do

2) The things you want to do

3) The things you think you should do

You can greatly simplify your life by sticking to 1 and 2.
