Is ego backlash the same as spiritual purging?

How can I tell if I'm experiencing an ego backlash or spiritual purging?

Or are they the same thing?

I actually dont know. Contemplate what purging means then compare both concepts.

Maybe purging is what happens when you deal with an ego backlash properly and mindfully, continuing practice. If you have an ego backlash and do not persevere, you will not grow, but will go back to the status quo you won't grow because purging doesn't happen.

@Cocolove i think they are similar, but ego backlash would be more of a clinging to old beliefs, thus creating massive resistance type of force.. While spiritual purging is more like your subconscious mind bubbling up to the surface and bringing up all kinds of random experiences from your past in an attempt to give you a new homeostasis.
