Understanding philosophical texts

1 post in this topic

Hello, I got interested in Derrida's deconstruction and watched Leo's video on it with a nice explanation and in the end of the video he pointed out David Loy's take to clarify why deconstruction is logocentric and how it all ties to non-duality. http://enlight.lib.ntu.edu.tw/FULLTEXT/JR-ENG/loy10.htm This is the link of the text.

My problem is that the text is too hard for me to grasp. There are a lot of fancy words I can't figure out and explanations are so extensive and complicated. I wonder why can't some text be simplified to plain language like Leo uses to describe us things.

I don't wanna blame anybody, I just don't understand. Also, how can I gradually improve my ability to read these kinds of texts so that I'm able to understand them easier? Is it just the problem of vocabulary, or I need to adapt myself to the style of philosophical writing? Also, English is not my native language, so maybe that answers the problem, but I can read most of the other genre's in English. Please help!  Thanks..
