lack of serotonin?

10 posts in this topic

Most of the time im feeling sad, anxious, i dont feel like doing anything that involves using my brain.

Today I ate some dark chocolate and most of these symptoms were almost gone. my mood increased dramatically, though some of it was still in the background.

the weird thing is that my diet is relatively good. I eat oatmeal with an apple, a grape and a banana in the morning mixed together, for lunch I eat a soup or rice with lentils, and in the evening i eat some meat with rice or pasta. but thats when im home, when im away, which is most of the time i almost always just eat rice with lentils for lunch and dinner.

also lots of times i dont feel like studying, but i refined my motivations for studying and theyre very good. usually for people the hard thing is to start studying, but for me its to continue studying. starting is hard too, but the hardship doesnt go away throughout the time i study. can it be something related to my brain chemistry?

what can i do?

Yey you tried the chocolate :D

You know if you want you can buy a 100% cocoa powder and mix it with bananas ?. The powder is very cheap. And it's even more healthier. You can find it any store where the coffee is.

About the studying I don't know much.

Some suggestions come in mind. Try to study on an empty stomach. Try to eliminate 0 prana or negative prana foods like tamatoes, potatoes, cheese, milk products, onlions, meat, pasta.

These are foods witch don't support the intelectual thinking and make you lethargic. Rice, lentils, fruits are good.

This is something to expermenta with also. It says it activates your brains in a strong way.

@Salvijus Thanks for the neck practice video! I've had chronic headaches, in part due to head and neck tension. I imagine it's very common.

I like how the video integrates meditation with the neck practices, rather than quick head cranking to get it over with.

Maybe you need more aminoacids.

There's a book called The Mood Cure by Julia Ross. Take a look at it.

it can be your diet. what you consume can drastically effect your mood, even in subtle ways.

did you know that "it is estimated that 90 percent of the body's serotonin is made in the digestive tract."

Make sure you take care of the psychological stuff too, like positive self-talk and getting some exercise, even if its just walking. It always makes me feel better.

Are you eating enough protein? I know this may be kinda barbaric advice as we keep hearing this all over the orange culture but your body needs very specific amounts of essential amino acids to produce things like serotonin, dopamine, various hormones etc...

Serotonin is produced from 5HTP which is produced from L-Tryptophan, an essential amino acid.

I'd suggest tracking your food intake in cronometer.com and see how much protein are you hitting. Ideally try to aim for 1g/kg of bodyweight. Don't go supplementing 5-HTP, rather focus on getting what you need from food.

Best of luck !
