Meditation in solitude

I don't really understand this.

Like the monks in Tibet, or any other form of being shut out of the world.

Humans have been living in groups for as long as we can see. We've always been a very closed society, obviously were not lone wolfs.

So I don't see why people would go against their nature?

If one wants to get rid of ignorance one has to segregate from outer ignorance supporting conditions at least for some time to be able to directly deal with mind's inherent ignorance supporting conditions.
