Should I forget about spirituality?

It feels like a big big waste of time. Chasing enlightenment, spiritual ideals and meditating to become someone powerful or just raising awareness is no different that chasing money, sex, fame and science.

Yes and no.
If chasing enlightenment, money, sex, fame and science is an endless tail-chasing for you, then I'm afraid that you're doing it wrong.
Each of these dimensions of value are attractive up to a certain point and during the period you're attracted to them, you have a free pass to learn a skill. You do not learn skills to extract value endlessly, but to change your perspective about the world. This is how the world keeps being meaningful and interesting.

There is nothing to be gained from chasing any value other than mastery of its acquisition.
Mastery is acquired when you gather the value effortlessly, without your conscious attention.

Bearing with the conditioned in gentleness, fording the river with resolution, not neglecting what is distant, not regarding one's companions; thus one may manage to walk in the middle. H11L2

You cant forget and escape truth even if you tried. Enlightenment is Inevitable. Once you become aware of something the universe makes it extremely uncomfortable to be anything other than the truth and the universe is simply you in disguise, you do it to yourself cause you know you can.
