Help! I can't relax my face

10 posts in this topic

Hello,

So, I have this one difficulty that I have been trying to deal with. My face always has tension, and when I meditate it gets worse, because I try to relax it, but I end up doing the opposite, which then causes it to start aching a bit. This brings me into a default mode of going through my day with tensed up face muscles, which can get tenser if I am stressed as well.

I don't know if meditation can help me relax my face or the rest of my body either, but mostly my face at this time (because it has not been recently). Meditation has helped in calming my mind a bit by focusing on something (such as the breath), but that's about it. While I go through my day, I am barely aware that my face is tensed, which is not very helpful either. So, I am a little stuck and don't quite know what to do, possibly do yoga, or take a hot bath... Any recommendations? Thanks.

Same problem. I am considering getting some face/head massages to see if it would help. Other than that, try to locate the specific muscles that seem to tense up, and massage them yourself. Practice mindfulness with your face tensing. Obstacle is the way.

I had tension on the face but it was because of meditation. Somehow self-enquiry produced this tension on my face. Witch after some time I could feel during the day also. It become very annoying also.

And I couldn't relax while lying on my back, trying to fall asleep. In other words, I couldn't fall asleep while lying on my back because this face tension would increase alot :D

Do you experience something similar?

So if you have the same problem then there's only one solution that worked for me - kriya yoga. I did kriya that creates allignment in energies and suddenly all the tension from face got very nicely into my forehead. Now it's a very pleasent sensation unlike before. And it doesn't produce any tension. So It really solved this problem fantasticaly I would say. :)

I would recommend watching Leo's "Body Awareness" video. It did wonders for me. ;)

Thank you guys for the replies.

@molosku Do you mean mindfully being aware of the tension in my face, and consciously trying to release it?

@Salvijus Are you asking if I have a similar experience while lying on my back trying to fall asleep? If yes, not really, because I tend to fall asleep very shortly after I go to bed. Which does not add more tension to my face. I have researched kriya yoga a bit, but I don't know where to start with it, where do I find tutorials or videos or anything on how to do it? Would kundalini yoga be considered kriya yoga as well?

@EvilAngel I have seen Leo's body awareness video. I'm just stuck at the part where he says "send a signal release the tension", or something along those lines, because I can't relax on command, especially my face.

@caelanb You have emotion locked up in your body which is causing your face to be tense. If you can get in touch with your emotions, you should be able to release this.

@caelanb I'm asking if the tension happened due to meditation practices

That's because you are forcing the head upon the body so that the body align itself with the head. This is EGO.

Now tap into the Thymus and break the forehead and the appendix, etc.

@EvilAngel Oh okay, I can try to do that, would you recommend hypnosis or anything like that to try to get in touch with them? I can find someone who can do hypnosis. Do you mean deal with the emotions when you say release this?

@Salvijus Yes, it may, I'm not 100% sure though. Possibly me trying to release tension is causing it to tighten, but I do tense up as I said when I am stressed during the day.

@Hellspeed What do you mean by...

Thanks.
