Quantum values

1 post in this topic

No kidding.

You know how quantum mechanics says an electron can be in multiple states simultaneously? I'm through pass # 5 defining my values and my values keep shifting definitions! [Joke ends here]

I've spent over 30 pages(and a similar number of days) ruminating on this. I've certainly filtered but it's far from specific. I've been through the realization that values are essentially groundless and my picking of values are partly on what has motivated me in the past and partly on what I consider important for the future. [Also, I have got an inkling that even if I pick any 10 values randomly from Leo's list, they all point to the same direction.]

Forgive me for my seemingly-scattered way of thinking,

-

Here are my top 10, in no particular order:

[Brackets cover my contemplation on how that value came about]

1. Wholeness / Self Actualization

- Integration of everything that entails being alive - from the devil to the divine. Being home wherever I am. A strong sense of stability. Responding over Reacting.

[Have had a repressed upbringing, been doing shadow work - can see the benefits of this. Keen on getting the most juice out of life.]

2.  Truth

- Being in touch with what is, with or without 'me'. Seeing the Truth. Being the Truth.

[To self-actualize(1) - this is the highway. Also, been a constant liar and seen the repercussions]

Oh, and recently had 2 months added to an experience letter to complete the required experience (which I didn't work for) - so there's hypocrisy

3. Freedom

- Being my own boss. Dedicating my own schedule. Working only for the 'market' I serve and independent of anybody else. Freedom from illusions. Relates directly to (2) Truth.

4. Knowledge / Understanding / Wisdom

- Understanding the inner mechanisms of society/ecosystems/relationships/everything. Putting light to every aspect of a subject. Learning how to separate the wheat from the chaff.

[Wanted to be a scientist when I was 8; been dead curious for as long as I can remember. Have been consuming information like a maniac ever since I was a child.

I've been the child who goes through a person's browser history/hidden folders to understand the whole picture - now you know it.

Also, so many aha! moments I've had listening to Leo, Sadhguru and JBP.]

5. Exploration / Experiential learning/ Experimentation / Open-mindedness

- Exploration of possibilities for the sake of exploration.

[This has been my driving force all through Architecture school. I experimented with building material, ways of presentation, model materials etc. Often didn't get my work done on time because it was not 'out there' enough. -- Went to give a sales interview to see how it all works - had no intention of being a part of it. Have been dabbling into generative art/design because the possibilities are endless. Wasn’t friends with any particular ‘group’ in college, but got in - and out of - touch with a range of people. This is big for me.]

6. Nature

[Enjoy being barefoot all the time. Enjoy taking long walks in nature]

7.  Contribution / Impact

- To leave the earth better than I found it.

[Even if life is meaningless, there is life and all I leave is an impact.

Left my last firm doing high-end residential interiors because I contributed beauty to a very limited range of clients. Zoom out, and that's 5% of the good that I could be doing.  I work like a slave for what I love, but I certainly don't enjoy feeling like one(3).]

8. Love

- Ever-expanding love. Another highway to Self-actualization.

[Nothing else has been more difficult to implement and effective at the same time - in improving the quality of my experience than (moving towards) unconditional love.]

9. Consciousness

- Sharpness of perception. Clarity. Directly relates to truth, understanding and love.

If consciousness is the basis of the large-spanning understanding of the world that Sadhguru exhibits, I’m on board!

10. Health / Energy

Can’t build a skyscraper on a shaky foundation.

Am I approaching this incorrectly? How do I take this further?

I’d appreciate a critique.
