Problems during Meditation.

12 posts in this topic

IM continously doing meditation from over 4 months 20 minutes daily but nowadays I have problems giving up the emotion during the meditation, even though I try to watch it but it makes me heavy and like nauseating feeling. Today I just was able to do for upto 13 minutes and then I gave up quitting the 20 minutes session.... I dont know but my thoughts and emotion seems to eat me inside during the session even though I watch them.... feels heavy in my ? brain !

Might want to understand emotion and it’s relationship to thought before meditating. Thought accepts by rationalizating the thought that gives way to the emotion, and condemns by giving emotion up or suppressing it. You will see that even though you seem to be meditating that you may be actually moving within thoughts normal pattern.

I think you're on the right track by watching the emotions as you meditate. Shinzen Young advises to truly focus on an emotion that arises during meditation.....what is the overall feel of the emotion in your physical body? Tingles? Weird heavy feeling in your gut? Tight muscles? What does the emotion feel like in your mind? Do any mental images come up? What sort of images are in your mind when you're with that emotion? Do you hear particular thoughts in your mind?

Teasing the emotion into its component parts like that can be helpful in understanding the emotion on its base level.

Fosho. We need to understand that accepting or condemning means we cannot actually watch this movement and it’s relationship to thoughts/images.

This is better done in daily activity. To sit down with the motive to this for a few minutes a day may be more difficult.

@PsiloPutty @Jack River  the emotion feels to me like “Eating me inside, putting pressure in my posterior part of the head,  i cannot see the emption clearly, it seems like something is holding to it, and as soon as I try to release it- it becomes more heavy, I feel like if I focus too much on that i will ?, Like IM fighting to get the thing out but tge thing dont want to leave me”

Don't resist the emotion, but also don't resist resistance to the emotion either. That's ego taking you on a merry-go-round.
