Experience with Dream Work?

15 posts in this topic

Hey guys,

could you share your experience of working with your dreams in case you have a habit of doing this? :)

Like: What has it done for you? Do you think it's worth doing? What are the motions you go through? etc.

I doubt that it will bring me clarity or something since I often have very twisted dreams or do not dream at all for long periods (and I know most things which are usually unconscious and hold me back), but it would just like to hear from you what you think!

Have a good day! :)

I'm very active in my dreams. It's opened me up to a whole other aspect of reality. Everyone dreams, even if you can't remember it. You can get better at remembering too, dream journals help, especially writing down as much detail as possible.

I don't consider dreams just random memories/information popping up. I'm able to see a value in most dreams, and even if I can't figure it out I trust it served it's purpose.  I think dreams don't just happen inside our body, I think our awareness travels to the astral/subtle realms; the non physical.

It can be hard to tell, but in my experience dreams always contain meaning. It might be a lesson, emotional release, exploratory, or things beyond understanding for our small amount of awareness. I also think we do often interact with real entities/energy, with a will of their own. One thing I am fairly certain of, is that we also experience memories that aren't from this lifetime. I don't know if you would call that a previous life, or just tapping into the collective consciousness in some way. Regardless, I think this is all connected to Source.

Do you think something every human being and many animals do hours a day is of no value? Of course not! It surely must serve a purpose.

Last night I'm fairly certain I experienced a past life/other memory of a young Indian girl in slavery. I remember my friends being tortured or killed for resisting, and I found an opportunity to run and I took it. I felt so terrible for leaving everyone behind, but I was terrified. I was the oldest of the group and they used us to beg for money, and I was the best at it. So I knew I wouldn't get the luxury of dying, because they wanted to keep me alive.

Luckily I/she found someone who gave her proper clothes and took her in, then I woke up.

The thing is, my dreams have gotten more complex and vivid as I've progressed with lucid dreams and out of body experiences. And this would have been extremely confusing for most, especially considering I'm a man, not a little girl. I'm not sure the meaning of the dream, maybe remembering part of who I am, but I'm sure whatever needed to be experienced was.

Never hurts to explore the depths of your consciousness.

@Frankie10 I have sometimes 5 dreams a night. On rare occasions, i can recall more than 70% of the full story. There is a lot of potential for spiritual purification by doing dream work. Although it's a double edged sword. It's a place where your fantasies can run amok, so it's important to have an intention as to why you are doing dream work..

You can go back in your past, relive old memories, see people you haven't seen in years. Also, you can re contexualize what a certain event meant to you/ gain insight about your LP. Oh and there's also spiritual guides who are willing to help, if you have the right intention.

But on the flip side, things can get dark... especially if you are running away from something. Dreams are where your shadow can manifest if you aren't doing the inner work.

Good luck!

@Elysian @Sahil Pandit

Do you guys ever talk to dream characters? I love doing this while lucid. Sometimes it's just out of curiosity of whatever random thing might come out of their mouths, and sometimes I like to ask questions and compare answers between a number of dream characters.

A fun question is:  if they are real. 9 times out of ten, the character completely believes in its existence. Every now and then there appears one that will admit this is all a dream and not get offended if I point out the illusion to them.

I have also noticed that some dream characters respond with very basic, drone like answers, and some that seem to be able to carry an intelligent conversation.

I would love to experiment with this more. My lucidity is still at random and I have been learning to prolong it.

I'm interested in anyone's experience with interacting with dream characters, and if any interesting reactions has come from it.

@seeking_brilliance Interesting experience!

No, i don't have conversations with them. Usually, it's just non verbal communication or I speak some type of jibberish to them in hope's that they can understand what I am asking. Also, I don't lucid dream often, but I have astral projected multiple times and that's quite different than lucid dreaming i would say.

I had a quite eerie experience about 6 days ago, as i had seen 2 ghouls outside my window while i was astral projecting.

Last night I actually had a shamanic experience and Leo was there :D

One of the clearest experiences i had was about a year ago while i was eating in a restaurant and Eckhart Tolle walked right up to me and just looked at me straight in the face with a crystal clear consciousness and compassion, it was astounding!

Read Jung and some solid psychoanalysts. Integrallife.com also has  some stuff on dreamwork too.

Try that nootropic Leo suggested btw that increases dream clarity as well.

@Sahil Pandit

Well then, kudos on your excellent dream recall!

I have been wanting to astral project for so long now.  Do you have a method for inducing them, or do they happen randomly for you? I have had several "false" projections/obe, which turn out to be dreams and have false memories, not fully lucid, ect.

I used to get sleep paralysis in the night and it would scare me to death so they finally stopped, only to find out they are a great way to jump start astral projection. So I have tried methods of falling asleep consciously. I can't get my body to relax enough while maintaining awareness, and can't reach the so-called vibrational stage.

Does anyone have tips for this?

Also, @Sahil Pandit, when you saw the ghouls, were you scared? In projection, did you have your full wits about you?

A lot of times when you are trying to speak in the Astral it sounds like mumbled garbage because you're trying to vocalize using a vocal chords except there aren't any actual vocal chords in the Astral.

The ghouls could've been a fear test.

One way is to sleep for a few hours, then wake up around 2am. Go start to meditate somewhere comfortable, like a recliner. That way your body is still tired but your mind is refreshed. The vibrations don't always come, but my first time they were very intense. I entered a deep meditation when they came on. Even just surrendering to the vibrations can be a fear test, it was for me my accidental first attempt.

I think sleep paralysis can or is also a fear test. I had a few SP incidences before my astral projection really picked up. Some in the community say it's more than likely just your fears manifested into thoughtform so not to worry. That's hard for me to process as not to worry as they also consider us thoughtform of God.

@Elysian @seeking_brilliance Sleep paralysis is part of it.

I haven't had the intention to astral project on purpose for a long time. But perhaps two years ago, i did have a strong intention to do it because it was brand new to me and an exciting topic with some potential.

After researching, I was able to do it successfully if i wanted to once my third eye had been purified. Once I had cleaned that chakra, I would lay in bed (Eyes focused on one part of the ceiling) and relax my whole body, till my body would be deeply relaxed. From there, after 10-15 minutes my body would feel heavy, as in, deep rest was washing over me. Within 2-3 minutes after that, i could feel my whole body falling asleep (Don't move) and I could feel my astral body beginning to lift up out of my body. This is scary for most people, and this is where they panic... Why? Because you're at the flux of losing control of whether you fall asleep/astral project/sleep paralysis. IF you can get past this stage, just keep calm and have deep trust in yourself and keep calm. This is where the mind likes to project fears about what if there is a demon on me or yada yada yada (This is no match for your Surrender)

From there you can enjoy the astral realm you get into. However, not all of them are equal..

I have had "good trips" and "bad trips" doing this. There is  alot to learn from bad trips so i don't repress them or deny them.

@seeking_brilliance @Frankie10I've spoken to dream characters before in a lucid state. I was trying to do some Anima work and asked this beautiful girl in the dream a question about it. She slowly started responding in a nursery rhyme that became creepier and creepier as she slowly transformed into a demon and started to scream at me.

Woke up in a state of fear, and have also had dreams since then where I felt her presence and literally forced myself to become lucid and wake up because I was that terrified.

I'm normally a fairly calm guy, but the darkness dreams can go into is unreal. Jung and Depth Psychology and the mythological/psychological analysis of Jordan Peterson have definitely helped me out in facing and better understanding these things.

I've also spoken to my subconscious self (a literal doppelganger) before in a semi-lucid dream. It was an OBE in a dream. That was a strange one!

For sure the #1 part of doing dream work is Remembering Dreams. This comes from intention for the most part, set the intention to remember dreams and then try and write them down each morning.

I'm at the point where if I set the intention I will have 2 - 6 very vivid dreams with 70 - 80% recall. Which also normally take on a structure or archetype that I can use to help understand what my subconscious is trying to tell me.

One thing that really helped my progress was simply dropping the good/bad dichotomy altogether. I view even the most frightening experiences as a chance to grow/overcome fears.

Sounds like a fear test. I actually have a similar figure that has appeared in different dreams or projections. I consider this figure the heart of my deepest fears, and I have no doubt when I can face this figure with no waiver that my fear shadow work is over.

Mine is actually a girl also, it's like that stereotypical feminine evil spirit. Think The Grudge, The Ring. Black hair, pale skin, dark eyes. The icing on top of the cake is that it's mouth opens extremely big like it's screaming at me, exactly how some of the mummies do in The Mummy. Lovely character.

I'm kind of jealous over you 2 recalling up to 6 dreams a night. Although I haven't done much practice to increase my recall, I've only gotten up to maybe 4 a night, but 3 is more common.

Thanks so much for sharing this guys! Sounds really impressive and it is certainly true that I should pay more attention to this part of my/the consciousness.

Good Luck on your paths!
