A 2-step process for finding the root of any thought

9 posts in this topic

I have been experimenting with this process lately, especially while working on different aspects of myself - where it is really effective. Teal Swan heavily inspired the first step but the second step squeezes a bit more information out of the specific thought.

This works with any thought but works especially well with recurring thoughts and mental images - it also works for deep desires you may have by imagining them first:

  1. Modify the thought in such a way that it makes the most amount of Resistance arise and get in touch with this thought. Teal called it "imagining the opposite". We think because of our Resistance to reality - by thinking about something we create a safe zone for ourselves in one way or another. With this step, we can intuitively feel what is this thought making us avoid.
  2. After you feel like there is nothing to gain from being with the opposite, come back the original thought and observe your relief. It may seem like an unnecessary step but you go both ways this way. This may help you clarify what you discovered while you were getting in touch with the opposite.

Try experimenting with this and let me know what you think.

Spirituality is any movement towards the Unnamable. Everything is spiritual.

The only true way out Resistance is going into it because any way out of it is staying in it.

The purest life possible is surrendering to the Absolute.

finding the root of any thought?..

Would it be fair to say we are getting closer to this in saying fear/resistance=psychological reaction, which initiates the response of thought?

@Hellspeed @Jack River IME The root of thinking is Resistance.

@Joseph Maynor If i give you an example your thoughts would justify itself so it wont be labeled as trash you have to see it for yourself when you do you will be liberated from them
