Any former smokers here?

I've known quite a few people have success with ecigs despite their "vape lord" meme reputation.

Its not "safe" per se but id call it safer than your usual cigs that aren't just pure tobacco.

But you can make your own e-juices and taper your nicotine.

@Leightonm i had many addictions (smoking included). i stopped by asking myself what i was seeking while consuming shit.

i wasn't able to find a reasonable answer.

@Jol356 no - never. i mean i have seen some, just happened. but cat videos are similar to porn just in another direction, it trains other happiness centers than porn.

i‘m not sure if it will work - but maybe it is something to slowly disconnect from the addiction. and after a while you could maybe even stop that.

it was with a mild  ;) but who knows. happiness is happiness isn‘t it. and karma is karma.

the quality just differs.

Honestly, I watched Leo's video about addiction, followed up with the practical steps he suggested, and I quit the next day after sitting alone in a room by myself with no distraction for 4 hours. I was a smoker for 10 years and smoked anywhere from 12-15 cigarettes a day. Quitting cold turkey was something I never thought was possible but since I've went through that process the craving for a cigarette was so rare that it shocked me. Give it a shot. :D

Hey :) In my opinion, smoking might be one of the worst possible choices someone can make. I started to smoke when I was about 16 or so and was able to finally quit in 2012. I was at a pack and a half a day when I quit and I did it with help from having the nicotine patch. On my third try I was successful and haven't smoked since. I strongly encourage current smokers to keep trying to quit this expensive and health damaging habit. It is so sneaky that by the time you realize that it is doing damage to you, you might be so hooked that it might be too late for some. Like it was said in this thread you have to be "disgusted" by the idea of smoking that you want to give it up for good.

Been one, very highly addicted I was, 3-4 packets of cigs a day,

I just quitted them after my first awakenings, I wanted more air and life, that simple.

Now I use dipping tobacco now and then as a lung enhancer. For those who don't know, tobacco is one of the best catalysts for the lugs, but not in smoke form. In old times was used as a cancer cure and had many healing uses. No wonder nowadays if one puts the intention that tobacco is bad and still uses it, it will bite one hard.

Try raw cacao to escape the cravings.

Try Mullein its very good for the lungs :)

@pluto interesting - but i’d better not start smoking again even if the substance would be better.

if someone wants to stop with smoking and didn’t yet maybe... but even then i would try it in a vaporizer. just as an addition. and while at it put some l-theanin inside.

pluto - you could even make a business model out of this ;)

with a nice alluring packaging design and some slim metal vaporizers ?

(i’ll try the tea)

@Leightonm
I recently have quit smoking (from 1 october). How did it happen? I was just so sick of it. You realise how pointless it is. EVERY SINGLE DAY you are doing the same shit. You wake up make coffee and smoke a cigarette. That stimulation giving u such a kick and produces endorphines in your brain which make you feel good. After a period you are getting emotionally attached to it. Apart from the physicial addiction (which is the easiest part when quitting) you have build an emotional addiction.

I have tried many times to quit but this time it actually worked. I am from Belgium (europe) and i'm currently on a exchange erasmus program (student) in Boedapest (Hungary). Changing my environment MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE in quitting smoking.

Factors that have an impact:
Absence of my friends (who are all smokers)
Moving out to different city all along puts you in a survival mode. You have to think about so much things especially when not having a big travel budget. You realise how expensive smoking is and actually you don't need it that hard.
Different social view on smoking here. Less people smoking. You don't see so much people smoking in your environment so you think less about it.

@Jol356 don’t drink for 3 weeks minimum.

even one beer or a glass of wine can be lethal. drinking even just on occasion was the number two trigger for me, after stress.

Once you get past the stage of not smoking while out with friends who are all drinking and smoking around you then you will know you have mastered the addiction or very close to mastering it. Do it a few more times and eventually you rise above :)
