The movie gattaca went into this idea a lot, bio-engineering things such as making new species or animals, we could even create artificial planets and eco-systems such as this:

This is the base of science, no limitations really, whatever can be conceived can be created. Limitless possibilities. Automation is on the rise, a good thing that will take care of irrelevancy and focus on grander ideals. Ethics aside, what is truly possible?

The evolution of the human being doesn't happen on a genetical level anymore. The evolution is found in the mind. We will create a peaceful global community and be humble with our consumption. Bionic will be a huge thing. We will engineer an artifical body. We will have some people living on the mars. Before we start creating artificial planets I think that terraforming would make more sense. Changing the attributes of a planet is easier than creating a new planet. But if it is a small eco system that we create, why not. But I don't think that we will go any further. We will probably never meet aliens.
