How do i intergrate more blue in myself when im in orange?

5 posts in this topic

I kind of had a bad upbringing with my mom who was too depressed to take care of me and had no real boundaries at all. And my dad who was in a bad state mentally and got mad easily (red).

Basicly i learned to be more red without really getting any blue. Im now orange and i move to easily into red whenever something happens. How can i intergrate more blue?

Just go study it, maybe watch some Stefan Molyneux, keep an open mind though because he can be pretty dogmatic, just try to understand why morality is good for keeping society together etc. Dont stop there though, keep growing. :)

Dont look at me! Look inside!

I think it's all about appreciation and understanding. Spend some time with blue people. Appreciate their view. Don't get into quarrels with them, if there's something you disagree about, talk about it with respect or just be silent. Read Spiral Dynamics if you haven't.

I also had a problem of demonising blue. At some moment in my life i was really angry with how church and religion work, how my mother keeps herself stuck in her toxic paradigm etc. But then i saw something valuable in blue: stable set of values, sense of direction, creating a community, society, having stability in havoc of red uprisings and so on. As Leo said, none of the stages is ultimately better or worse, they develop in a set order, but blue isn't worse than orange; simply different.

Integration of blue helped me accept myself and grow. Good luck for you in that effort! ;)

@Andreas get into religion, and god, be the good citizen, care about people, and what they think, develop manners, do things to help out other people especially in religious settings. Become very judgemental of assholes, and people that say no or people that look out for their own personal interests.

but for the love of god, don't become fouseytube the perfect mixture of red and blue.

@Andreas

I would suggest contemplating:

How are rules and laws beneficial to you? How are authority figures beneficial to you? Does acting out on Reddish impulses actually increase your chances survival and security? Or would is your survival and security increased by following rules and laws. . . Reflect on times that your Red was triggered. Did this increase your security? Did it serve you?

Observe the behavior of mafia leaders. They harm and kill their adversaries for their own survival and security. Yet, if you look at the big picture . .  . does their Reddish behavior increase or decrease their chance of survival? Does it increase or decrease their security? What if a mafia leader gave up their Red role as a mafia leader and became a regular construction worker that obeyed the rules and laws of society? Would their chances of survival and level of security increase or decrease?

How would the world be if everyone behaved as Red? Imagine everyone being gang leaders, mafia leaders and dictators. Would a red society increase your chances of survival and security? Or would living in a society with rules and laws increase your chances of survival?

This is just to develop an intellectual understanding. One can be blue intellectually and red emotionally. I think progressing past Red emotions is more difficult than progressing through Red intellectually.
