How to do an OUTDOORS Solo Retreat?

3 posts in this topic

Hey @Leo Gura and anyone else whose done solo retreats, what do you guys think I would need to bring and have if I did a Solo Meditation retreat outdoors? I feel like the main factor I would want control of is the food and water but if I did bring pre-prepared food I wouldn't want to risk the whole having a bear come or have to resort to buying this shitty powdered food or whatever the fuck that is that's sold in plastic bags or something like that (I live in San Francisco/Marin County by the way).

I want to go outdoors because:

  1. It's cheaper
  2. I can afford the stuff especially since I have a part-time job at REI where I can get tents and supplies for 30-75% off
  3. I meditate, contemplate, and self-inquire WAAAAAAAY better outdoors it's like a steroid for me. It really isn't even funny haha

That's quite tricky. You're basically talking about camping skills.

Go camping a few times without any retreat or meditation and just learn how to camp.

You'll need to stock up in quite a bit of supplies. Dealing with the heat, rain, and cold will be tricky. Snakes, bugs, cougars, and bears can be tricky too.

Many places in CA will require camping permits and camp ground reservations.

But it could be a really great growing experience if you manage to figure out all those logistics.

You'll want a first-aid kit, GPS, and some kind of weapon against creatures.

How they do this without needing any supplies is extraordinary. Not to mention the fact that it doesn’t even throw them off from attaining the ultimate... assuming there is such a thing (though i thankfully don’t hold that)
