How do you set goals? What structure do you use?

Title. Let's share the best methods&techniques you have for the benefit of all.

As for me:
I usually set goals\plans for each day\week in advance and also for long term - 1 month\quarter\year\10 years

For long term goals I prefer to split everything by different facets of my life - Finance, Spirituality, Relationships, Fitness\Health, Life purpose, Self-mastery. I also have a special tab for my reading pursuits and for habits (Do you track them?). I usually write what things I want to accomplish in each area and make plans how I will do so. I also like to do random weekly challenges which is fun.

For each day I tried to structure my day strictly but I was always failing miserably because some unpredictable shit was always coming up and ruining everything. So now I just try to set what I want to do in general.

As for medium I used to write everything in physical notebook but then I moved to onenote\trello. Now I'm thinking about some excel cloud solution.

If you have some good material on goal setting techniques besides Leo's videos - feel free to share. Especially if they talk about how to use software to do it more efficiently.
