Inner Conflict

6 posts in this topic

I am stuck in a point in my life where i see all the misery created by capitalism but on the other hand i would love to create a good financial future for myself.

The one thing clear for me is that i dont want to work for anyone else (ego?) since most of the jobs i worked before felt like i was not getting paid enough while investing all these hours in their companies. Basically my question is: how do you conduct business on a high consciousness level ?

Any help is appreciated.

Much love

PS i felt like this topic belongs more to self-actualization than to career because its much more fundamental

Why would you love to have a good financial future? What would that bring you? What would having a poor financial future look like?

Great question. I would love to have a good financial future to be free to do what i ever i feel like doing and not being restricted to the amount of money and vacation time my boss grants me. Also a big concern may be retirement and security. In general its about making sure i have enough left when things go bad.

It would bring me a sense of security and freedom which is currently missing in my life.

A poor future would be to live of welfare or any kind of social security and not having the freedom to choose.

@Alphahedgehog Having a sense of security and freedom is very high on my value list as well. I intentionally chose a career that allowed me personal freedom to do the work I want - with freedom to choose hours and vacation.  I make an average U.S. salary. I could easily double or triple my salary by entering corporate America. Yet, it isn't worth the loss of freedom to me.

I would be careful with expectations. Most people I know with high incomes do not have a sense of freedom and security. They get a new house or save some money and temporarily feel more secure. Then, insecure again and they chase for more. Nothing is enough for them - they always need more. . . There is a freedom much deeper than anything material.

I don't want to be that guy, and its totally okay if its too personal and you do not want to answer, but I'm curious what occupation you're talking about?

I am trying to become a Counselor/Psychologist (hoping to get into a doctoral program soon) and want to open up my own private practice to enhance my freedom and still do my Life Purpose which is ultimately to help reach their potential.

@SgtPepper College science prof. Perfect fit for me.

I’ve heard that private psychology practice can be intense. I dated a gal that needed to mix in some academics and mentoring time to keep her sanity.

Good luck on the doctoral programs. I think it is a great field. Especially with those with a high consciousness level. Do you have any interests in training/teaching a new generation of psychologists someday?
