Drugs limiting notion in society

3 posts in this topic

This is quoted from the book Mastery by George Leonard. The #1 book on Leo's book list.

"Drugs. Drugs can give you the illusion of getting the immediate success this culture is always promising you. Travelers on the fast track can use drugs to experience climactic upward surges without spending any time on the plateau. At first, it might seem to work, but regular use leads inevitably to disaster. If you're on drugs, you're not on the path."

Okay, i can understand this being true if your taking intense drugs like ADHD medicine, antidepressants, etc. All these things i took in the past, but i dropped completely because it was complete bullshit. All pharmaceutical companies are bureaucratic. They are a self sabotaging cycle once you enter it's very hard to get out because you don't build any dependence on yourself. You just pop a pill, and your problems are 'gone.'

BUT what about things like Nootropics & coffee? Or how about all the psychedelics on this forum that is used for the purpose of self-actualizing?

Am i not on the path because i'm using something to help me even though i'm still putting in all the work like studying, meditating, working out, reading, etc?

Like you could even say that eating healthy is a drug. Eating healthy, helps keep my mind sharper, my body lighter. It helps me. It's basically the same thing. What draws the line here?

I would take a look at this video:

There is also another video by Eckhart Tolle where he talks about his experience with a drug. I'll see if I find it.

Edit: just found it. It's Eckhart Tolle's experience with acid:

@brugluiz Thanks man. The Mooji video really helped a lot and gave me some good insight about this whole situation.
