Money

16 posts in this topic

Hey guys, I am 15 and I dont get enough money to invest in myself and get all the good food to eat.

Do you have any ideas on what I can do as a teenager to be kind of independent in that area? Parents are getting a bit nervous about all that money.

Hey bro,  I was in your shoes. Do what you can; sit down for 2 hours and list down all the possible ways you can make money right now (selling lemonade, starting a clothing brand at your school, look for a family friend or someone who can offer small job opportunities, etc) List down as many as you can and cross out the ones you don't like.

But, Im proud of you for doing this so early in your life. Im 20 now but i started when I was 16. Please. Please follow my advice. Don't lose the consistency. Responsibilities make life harder and more distracting, Use NOW to ACTUALIZE. You are in the perfect position to. Don't fuck up.

@ajasatya @Brayanwangulo  Thanks for responding! I should probably reinforce my skills in order to make use of them, as my hobbies include things like drawing and language learning... I have a friend who is around 20 and already started a company, he could probably help me out.

I just dont like manipulating people, thats an issue by itself...

@bejapuskas you don't need to manipulate anyone. you just have to internalize genuine interest in helping him with the challenges he faces.

i'd ask him what's the biggest challenge that his company faces and then i'd intensively study the subject. this is when research is truly useful... to solve practical issues.

you can even offer your work for free, or even try it out as a trainee to see if you can really help him out. if that's the case, it's possible to negotiate a job after a few months.

this is not manipulation. it requires true hard work.

@ajasatya  Thats right, hours of hard work. Do you have a business? What do you do / What would you do if you were my age?

@bejapuskas i don't have a business.

at your age i wanted to be an engineer so i studied mathematics, physics, chemistry and statistics like crazy. i didn't have the need for money though. i had food on my table everyday, a place to sleep, a bathroom to use and a minimal set of clothes to wear. and it was enough for me. i didn't even have a cellphone.

right now i am a data scientist, which requires a huge amount of hard work. i recommend finding a way to display the output of your hardwork. i used to write a bunch of public kernels related to machine learning for free. you can always find a way to build a portfolio.

this guy is just amazing:

@ajasatya Thats probably ok as long as you like your job right... I also dont have any crazy desire for money, I just feel like a casual job is too time consuming and you are just surrounded with negative people and crazy distractions all the time there in most situations. What are your opinions on your current job?

That guy must have trained a lot haha... I am probably looking for a way too easy solution, although its just the issues stated above on my side... I am not really looking for building a huge investment company.

it's amazingly challenging. i feel like i'm working at my peak of creativity. the output is also very useful because data analytics can help a company make better decisions.

About current income, part time job would probably be great option. But I see that you are talking about your future life preferences. I'm still young (22) and will get all my goals done, but there is one thing I wish I knew at your age. Take any passion you have and go all in, dedicate yourself in mastering It. You're age allows you to be professional in pretty in different sports, arts. Later It will be way harder. This is harder to choose in your age, but If you have intereset in specific field like science, biology, nutrition, whatever. Learn as much as you can as you will enjoy your life way more with having great career built on your passion, not just working in average job for average salary. Be as ambitious as you can and start learning, you won't regret this. I have missed passion I had since I was like 10, I really loved cycling, but didn't train professionally until at age 16 I started training more seriously, but then at 18 stopped as I had no discipline. Now I just started It again and I love It so much, but all I can aim for at this age is average pro level, If I would dedicate myself to this when I was younger I would already be in national pro or elite team and could aim for international competitions. I also quit arts school which I loved, now I still love art, but I really suck at creating It and I have no time to dedicate myself to It.

Don't push yourself too much as you have to spend your childhood in fun and exciting way, but slowly start learning how businesses work, everything money related, lots of self-improvement literature and follow all your passions.

@RabbitHole  I feel you man, regret is one of the worst feelings out there. I wanted to become a ninja or a wizard when I was smaller haha. Thats a good insight, thanks man! I like teaching people, maybe I should be a coach or a teacher of some kind then! Good teachers and coaches are rare, but I know a few that I absolutely love.

I believe everything will work out for you very well basing on topics you started It amazes me that you're just 15. You are already on great path, just keep looking for ways to improve yourself, your life and world around you, you will get where you want to be :)

I was in your shoes back in 2010-2009, I was fascinated by the time about passive income. There's forums out there if you just google "black hat" keywords you'd get somewhere. I did earn a couple of bucks back then, like 40$ or smth.
