Me as my Domain of Mastery

9 posts in this topic

So far my Me Sheet looks like this

Life purpose statement: "Giving people a deeper connection with life"

Zone of Genius: "Reflection"

Domain of Mastery: *blank*

Ideal Medium: not sure yet, I'd actually love to give seminars and do videos but writing is also something I'm passionate about

My question is about my Domain of Mastery. For a while now I've had the intuition of becoming a spiritual teacher. Teaching about a variety of things to help people make sense of life. I have been thinking a lot about having myself as my Domain of Mastery. Developing myself and being able to be an example for people as I help them through life.

Can I have myself as my Domain of Mastery?

I think you need to choose what you are mastering for example mastering personal development mastering spirituality etc

There is nothing safe with playing it safe.

@Max_V Sounds like your domain of mastery should be teaching, or spirituality, or writing. At least for now, until you find something better.

Don't get too cute with stuff like: I'm going to master myself. Yes, of course you will. But you also want some tangible marketable skills which you can use to build a career around.

When you commit to something like "I will master teaching" or "I will master writing" or "I will master speaking", that is a very powerful and actionable intention. It sets you on a solid and clear career path.

When you say something like "I will master myself" I picture you 10 years from now living in your mom's basement sniffing your own farts. Because it's such a vague and abstract intention.

What tangible things are you gonna offer the world once you've mastered you?

The world is not gonna pay you to sit there basking in your own self-mastery.

@Leo Gura @Max_V  I've actually really been struggling with this myself in terms of finding my medium. My ZoG is contemplation and explaining. My domain of mastery is consciousness work (however I could definitely and also probably very do-ably fit in my passion and already solid understanding of distance running in there too) .

The thing about connecting spirituality/consciousness work with my life purpose is that it just feels deep down like this sense of imposter syndrome of 'who am I to talk about spirituality and enlightenment teachings and giving people advice when I'm still a downright newb? Isn't this just me pretending to others and even myself that I know and grasp more than I actually do?'

@Leo Gura Alright, I’ve thought about it and this is what I came up with.

As my Life Purpose, I will deepen my connection to life  and learn more about how life works.

I’ve always loves languages and writing , so for my domain of mastery I will learn to master expressing my wisdom through written words in multiple languages so I can reach a wide audience.

Basically, I work towards being a sage and sharing wisdom with the world. My domain of mastery is to evolve in how and with what I deliver that message.

@kieranperez Well, you're going to feel like an imposter no matter what life purpose you come up with. This must be the case because you're creating a long term plan that's like 10 years ahead of where you are now.

This is the burden of being a visionary. You see things 10 years before you can fully actualize them.

The mistake is to let that discourage you.

You think I didn't feel like an imposter starting Actualized.org? You think I still don't feel like an imposter to some degree?

@Max_V There's a book "What is life?" by Erwin Schrödinger. Might find it interesting. Haven't read it, but heard it recommended by Dr Peterson......
