Very Long Periods Of Meditation

9 posts in this topic

Like hours, or even day, what would be the effect of that long period, my longest period was over an hour, but 10 hours, or more than 24 hours, what do you think would be the effect of that long period

@Cortex I usually do 40 minutes

But I tried doing it for 1h 30 m two days ago and it was so painful.I mean physical pain in my legs. It would be realy interesting to know if someone does it for more than 2 hours without having physical pain (or accept this pain).

The effect could be astonishing.

For me a couple (like 3 or 2) 4-7 hours of SDSs i did at night (i dont remember how long they actually were) changed my life in a way for the better. The 4-7 hours of SDSs wasnt just the only thing that contributed to this change btw. I was suffering tremendously around this time i did these so that might be another factor.

SDS is short for Strong Determination Sitting.

@Cortex People are living in an unrecognized repeat / fast forward but they don’t know it. Long meditations help us real-ize, and we go from repeat / fast forward (finite / falsity) , to shuffle / play (infinite / potentiality / truth).

At some point, you would be falling asleep from fatigue but 16 hours in one sitting is doable and who knows maybe even if you started as a beginner meditator, after 16 hours you would be able to enter deep jhanas.

@BornToBe I'm sitting 2,5 hours every day on a sofa with back support. Eventually, you get into what is called physical pliancy and pain doesn't bother you that much
