If you had a one year vacation with zero obligations, enough money to buy handful of books and enough space and freedom, what would you do? (Or atleast what would you recommend to a person like that?)

Start a business so you're free for rest of your life or travel, that will teach you way more than any school, book, guru, etc.

Honestly, I'd likely do something extremely austere. Monkhood wouldn't be out of the question. Meditate the shit outta myself and change the blueprints from the bottom up. Can you imagine the changes that a full year of 12 hours a day meditation would bring about?
