life of a bulk monk

Can someone help me understand the life of a bulk monk? Just like how there is bulk engineers, meaning 90% of people with high degree doing "dream job" but who never accomplish anything and are literally replacable by another bulk engineer, what does the bulk monk do with their lifes?

Im baffled because i cant see a reason, anything else but to enjoy the satisfaction of being in the now and not introducing anything challenging in life when your life revolves around monastery. So what do they do? Do they travel the world? Do they leave the monastery at some point to live a life of a normal man, to learn it in first experience?

Highly detailed biography would be awesome. Plus 15 hours preferably, i hate when biographies jump years for no reason
