Feeling of heaviness in the heart-throat

8 posts in this topic

This feeling is accompanied with a feeling that it's hard to breathe. I feel like this almost all the time. It affects my mood greatly, im not enthusiastic about anything for a long time already and I feel like I start to get depressed, I feel like there's no hope for the future being good because anything I thought of before as "good" seems from my point of view in the present as lame. I do know on some level that it will pass though, so I still have lingering hope.

That feeling also intensifies when I think of doing something that requires effort, like doing the life purpose course or reading a book.

I think it's because im extremely extremely mind dominant, I think ALL the time and analyze everything. im ALWAYS self conscious when I feel certain feelings, for example if I feel joy, I become aware that I feel joy, I cant just experience joy.

As proof for this as the cause, I know that when I do mindnumbing activities like drink alcohol (I rarely do) or watch movies all the bad feelings alleviate, that is, unless my mind doesnt let me get into watching the movie.

How can I deal with that permanently? I meditate for about a year now.

Sounds like anxiety and a kind of feedback loop. Don’t worry about it. Just let it be, don’t fight it. It’s good that you are analytical, it’s like a super power that many wish they had :)

@Viking Could be you ready for a breakthrough of sorts. Think of it this way. When a flowing river meets a waterfall, before the waterfall the water becomes turbulent. After the waterfall (breakthrough) the water is calm.

@Viking If you believe the problem is created internally than you need to reprogramme the negative patterns into positive affirmations or else you'll stay stuck in a vicious cycle.

If you believe the problem may be due to outside circumstances than you need to consult the I ching. That's what I do when the situation seems like there is no answer to the immediate circumstances.

You could be at a crossroad in life right now so what you choose to do could be important for the overall outcome.

@Viking Yea that's right. If you run into them by chance just flip em the bird and they will make all your problems go away.:P

You could see a doctor. Report your symptoms to him. Get an examination done. I do not know. It could be a disease. If it has been effecting you for a while and causing you suffering, I would get it checked out.

I do not know what you feel, but, if I was in your position, perhaps I would see a doctor and keep a skeptical and open-minded mindset to whatever he says. You have to do something. I find disallowing yourself to fidget around and be mindless helps in being focused. Do not pick at finger nails, scratch skin, pick at spots in a mindless dopamine seeking behaviour way.
