All Wars are LIES?

5 posts in this topic

Sorry if this isn't the spot for this, but I just wanted to know your thoughts.

So I was listening to my local radio and they were playing something by what sounded like a political comic. Sadly, I only caught the tail end of his bit, but it was some intense stuff. He was talking about how War is nothing more than a profit based business designed to keep "us" (the lower classes) distracted from the shady deals and dirty money switching hands. He kept playing clips from a debate that was held recently (I think it was a Florida debate, I didn't catch it) and commenting on the candidate responses.

One gentleman said that if we were to just "end the wars" there would be a lot of people without work and the unemployment status would sky rocket. The comic then began to get a little heated up, he talked about all the money that would be saved from ending these NEEDLESS wars with countries that did nothing but live on land that contained oil. He talked about how he visited Libya before it became a war zone and the Libyans were some of the nicest people he ever met. They were just like you and me, working day to day to make a life for their families. Farmers, teachers, laborers, just normal people.

He said all the money saved from ruining these communities could go to creating more jobs in renewable resources to move away from planet harming resources and creating jobs in our healthcare system to make it better for the country and jobs in our school systems to make them ALL great schools to produce better and more capable students that will join the workforce and stand a chance in this insane capital market. He then said "or hey, maybe that money could go to feeding the thousands of Americas that are starving in the streets! But that's not good business folks. There's too much money to be made off of killing innocent folk" And proceeded to shout "WARS ARE LIES" a few times.

He, of course, spoke a little about Iran and said that there is no doubt in his mind that we will be at war with Iran soon. "There's too much money to lose by NOT going to war with them." He spoke about how it makes him sick that Trump can sit in his cushy chair and threaten that "WE" will go to war with Iran, but it's not him. It's US that will be out there dying to "defend" some made up prerogative, our brothers, sisters, and children will be the ones dying, not Trump. He will just be sitting back taking in all the money and passing it along to his buddies The NRA, Big Oil, and all the companies that produce the weapons and gear for war.

So what do you guys think? Are "All wars lies"?

@zoey101 Also the finance complex wants war with countries that don't follow their agenda. Iraq started to sell oil in other currencies then dollar, that is not allowed by the world elite. Dollar was backed up by gold until the 70's, then it becomes a fiat currency with no back up. They started to persuade countries to only sell oil in dollars, that's why dollar is also known as petrodollar.

Gaddafi wanted a more independent Africa with an own gold standard as a back up to their own currency. No more slaves to the global financial complex was his aim.

Huge amount of weapons was also shipped from Bengazi in Libya during and after the war to Syria in order to arm rebel groups for yet more war.

Also oil is a huge factor just as strategic areas are. The Golan heights that belong to Syria is now occupied by western interests, Golan heights are both strategic area in the region as well as rich on oil.

There are MANY factors, but one thing is for sure. If the elites wouldn't benefit from wars, there would never be one. @zoey101

Isn't it so, yes or no?

@zoey101 He sounds like a typical conspiracy theorist. I don't believe anyone who hasn't got any evidence or a reasonable argument to support their position. That's just my opinion though.

The big question is, how does it help you become enlightened? It doesn't. It's just another thing to worry about / get angry about / campaign against.

I worry that sometimes we get so caught up in this stuff that we are just fooling ourselves into ignoring what is going on... All of this is very helpful to calm yourself and gain deeper understanding and perspective, but what are we doing other than self enlightenment and self-searching? I can't help but feel there is a lot of self focus going on when we could be really doing stuff in the world. If everyone would stop focusing on themselves and decide what needs to be done and go for it, we could be a force. But that thought seems to be the vast minority...

God it can be so depressing can't it... I wish there was something that could really be done besides just sitting by and watching the world explode :/

Jesus said, "Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division." ◄ Luke 12:51 ►

Those who think that war is totally harmful and destructive are wrong; their vision is fragmentary, myopic. If we try to understand the course of development that man and his civilization have followed, we will realize that war plays the largest share in its growth. Whatever man has today - all the good things of life - were found primarily through the medium of war. If we find today that the whole earth is covered with roads and highways, the credit should go to war and to preparations for war. These roads and highways were first constructed for the sake of waging war, for the purpose of dispatching armies to distant lands. They did not come into being for the sake of two friends meeting or for a man and a woman belonging to two distant towns to marry. The fact is, they came into being for the encounter of two enemies, for the purpose of war.

We see big buildings all over. They all came in the wake of castles. And castles were the products of war. The first high walls on this earth were built with a view to keep out the enemies, and then other high walls and buildings followed. And now we have skyscrapers in all the big cities of the world.

But it is difficult to think that these highrises are the progenies of war.

All of man's modern affluence, backed by scientific inventions and high technology , indeed all his achievements , basically owe their existence to war.

In fact, war creates such a state of tension in the mind of man and presents such challenges, that our dormant energies are shaken to their roots and, as a result, they awaken and act. We can afford to be lazy and lethargic in times of peace, but moments of war are quite different. War provokes our dynamism. Confronted with extraordinary challenges, our sleeping energies have to awaken and assert themselves. That is why, during a war, we function as extraordinary people; we simply cease to be the ordinary people that we are. Confronted with the challenge of war, man's brain begins to function at its highest level and capacity. In times of war man's intelligence takes a great leap forward, one it would ordinarily take centuries to make.

Man... I guess you're right... I mean most of our medical discoveries, especially plastic surgery, came about because of Nazi Scientists in WWII... I guess I do see the "benefits" we have received from it, but it doesn't stop it from feeling so wrong and alien to me... I hate how many people have to die because of greed and fear of one group getting more "powerful" than us..

It feels like there is so much evil in the world and I know it's only like that because of the access we have to all the information online.. Truth is, I think we are living in the best time, so far. Like what would be the alternative? I'm often mistaken for African American so there isn't really any time in the past that would be too inviting to me lol

Man this whole thing has my mind spinning :/ guess I'm just too low on the "Spiral Dynamics" spectrum to see the big picture. It just makes so much more sense to just be indifferent towards each other. We don't have to agree of like what others do or believe, but it's their right to do it, just like it's our right. Plus it takes so much less energy to just not care about our differences.

I don't know... Maybe I'm just too naive and idealistic....
