@blazed well thank you for honouring the differences between us. I think your opinion is valid and helpful.

Btw I actually do think I could totally benefit from cutting down some of my YouTube time, and I mentioned some rather extreme solutions because you were so passionate about the topic, all the points you included made a lot of sense actually!

I might have misjudged you, you totally resembled sarcasm, my bad if I did, apologies.

Yes i think there is a good reason why so many spiritual schools practice discipline, and leo in his recent videos has mentioned strong discipline is very important  a few times.

Its not simple, I've studied a lot about it but theres no simple solution. I think expecting it to be simple is a mistake.

But then again I spent too many years being a gamer and messing about on the internet, my brain is completely messed up on stimulus.

For internet problems i use "Cold turkey" blocker.

For gaming, if you have addiction (play for multiple hours compulsively) then I think you need to quit indefintely, whenever I pick games up again I become addicted, I can't do moderation. I can only do moderation when important things are in the way like a "job" i can't moderate on a free day for example.

The more you feed the beast the worse it gets, you need to starve it.

I got over social media easily by deleting all my friends off it, now I don't have any desire to post anything or look up what others are doing, sacrafices were made, temporary closure of account didnt work, but deleting friends left me in a situaiton where I couldn't add them all back without it being awkward and bothersome.

I feel like discipline is the no.1 factor in life, to say you going to meditate for the next 24 hours and actually do it. etc.

To do anything you put your mind to without having contradicting thoughts and ego backlash.

@blazed thank you! Yeah I don’t think it’s that big of a deal with games for me. I don’t play much, but last time I got really excited about a game I gave it a shot and it was awesome (it was divinity 2, oh how fun, I literally binged it and had a blast the entire time.)

What is something I could be mindful of is my YouTube consumption. I watch all kinds of stuff just out of total lack of things to do.

I think those are real great points you mentioned towards the end!

You can totally do a gaming channel. I worked in a youtube network for several years and have seen people making good money on it.

I also considered this idea. All these big YT with their big audience, they dont really know what to do with them. Leo is also on youtube. There is no reason why you cant bring across the same kind of ideas while playing a video game. I also thought about how you can use the games themselfes in a way to illustrate specific points about reality. But I didnt flesh them out.

So plus

-You can reach a lot of people and by that you can have a lot of influence on these people.

-Can support you financially and you can focus your free time on developing the skills you want.

On the other side

-Your money comes from advertisement, this will most likely be ads that bath in the "low conscious" water (see Leos video about marketing).

-There might be better career paths you will miss out on.

Edit: Forgot, its actually quite hard to earn a living with gaming. Most big channels out there are 5+ years old and you have to put a lot of effort into it before even getting a few $$$.
