How often do you weight yourself?

5 posts in this topic

I've been doing the diet for four weeks now. I usually weigh myself on the Monday morning and before breakfast. Seeing the weight fall off is quite motivating!
I've also been reading that the article here , it suggests weighing 2–3 times a week.  Very de-motivating so I'll stick with the weekly weigh in.
What do you lot do?

Weighing oneself can be quite deceiving because the physical weight does not equal health just as losing weight does not equal becoming healthier. Often it can cause person to become neurotic and angry when they see the reduction stopping or being reversed after which they will think that they are becoming fat. In reality our body can hold on to water for many reasons and that could be mistaken for excess weight.

I know I proably did not answer your question but for the optimal testing of whether your diet / workouts are working consider either doing body fat testing or physically measuring your arms, tights, buttocks, waist and chest with a meter every 3 months or so :)

 all the best !

I would say If you are not training for specific sport, where weight matters (certain class or benefits of certain weight) then check once a week in the morning before eating, right after you wake up, always same time, but as@Michael569  mentioned If you are doing this for health and/or looks then don't focus on weight, but overall feeling and looks. Why would you focus on specific weight goal If you could look great with more or less? It also put stress on you.

I am working out in gym, cycling, running so I kinda look after my weight, but person who's just training to be fit shouldn't care about exact weight, maybe just once in a while to see If you have calculated your calorie intake correctly. Tellus, what's your goals and what training you do?

I was also really focusing on certain weight, but I saw that It does not make me feel good so I choose performance, which is focus un health and strength, endurance or whatever sport you do.

When I was dieting and exercising to lose weight after my pregnancies, I weighed myself first thing in the morning every single morning. I always did this after using the bathroom and prior to eating or drinking anything. It was super motivating to see that I was losing a few fractions of a pound per day.

And it didn't take me long to lose all the weight. The first time I was even able to get down to 118 from my max pregnancy weight of 195. The second time I went from a max weight of 195 (again) and got it down to like 122. Now, I'm like 130 because I haven't been paying attention to my weight. So, I need to get back on track with an exercise regiment and get back to paying attention to what I'm eating and how much.
